5 Star Medical Transport's Robynne Redmon is Named Entrepreneur of the Year
Robynne Redmon, owner of 5 Star Medical Transport was named Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 by Inside Business magazine and Regent University School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship. Not only was Robynne Redmon named one of the recipients of the 2011 Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards, she was selected as the Entrepreneur of the Year in Hampton Roads by Inside Business and Regent University School of Global Leadership and Entrepreneurship. This annual award recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding local entrepreneurs. The announcement was made at the 2011 Entrepreneurial Excellence award ceremony, June 20, 2011 at the Founders Inn located in Virginia Beach.

Redmon was inspired to launch her non-emergency transportation business when her husband became disabled with a rare lung disease, and she found the need for transportation services. She began her business in a small, home office in 2007, and now the company has grown to include a 15 vehicle fleet, 17 employees and two offices in Chesapeake. 5 Star Medical Transport is in the process of starting operations in Greenville and Anderson counties in South Carolina. The company's long term goal is to open satellite locations on the east coast.
Redmon credits her husband for being the most helpful in establishing her business, "His experience as a logistics manager and EMT have helped immeasurably. He is my number one consultant."
5 Star Medical Transport was founded in a small, home office in 2007 out of a desire to serve others, especially the frail, non-ambulatory, and elderly. Today, the company serves residents and facilities from its headquarters in Chesapeake, VA with eighteen employees including its trained NEMT (Non-Emergency Medical Transport) professionals. Redmon also recently launched a new service in Hampton Roads, Silver Car Services, which supports transportation for older adults and address the needs of Boomers and families struggling to assist their adult parents.
